it’s an unusual situation when someone leaves this world. all of a sudden, everything becomes Before and After. you think in terms of “did they see this movie? did they hear this song? did they get to hold this beautiful baby?”
everything seems easier in the Before but you tend to have more regrets about the Before (not calling enough, not seeing them enough, not telling them enough stupid jokes).
they leave and everyone is left in the After. good days, bad days, in-between days. learn to live with the new world you were thrust into. make the most of your days, the days they didn’t get to have. holidays are a weird dynamic- bittersweet, stepped in traditions that they can’t take part in anymore, coming once a year, without fail.
i miss my brother every day, every hour of my life, but when I see days like today on the calendar, it pinches my insides with a tiny bit more force than usual. maybe because I wish the outcome of that May 12th had come out different. still determined to make every May 12th the fullest it can be, for his sake.
…my favorite part of this is “scoobie doobie”.
George Harrison’s handwritten lyrics to Here Comes the Sun
pretty incredible to see something that’s so important to me condensed onto an 8 x 11 1/2 piece of paper and in its rawest form.
truer words haven’t been spoken.

Here’s a clip of the first single off Born and Raised, called “Shadow Days.” I’m excited to share the first bit of sound from the album… Been looking forward to a post like this since October 14, 2010, the first day I started writing this group of songs. Enjoy.
THIS THIS THIS!
Officially back on track as of today. Doc says all clear. Ends an 8-month period of extreme patience and a real head trip… Back to it… See you soon.
